The number of samples that can be put on a single gel is determined by gel size and by the type of sample applicator strip. To reduce the cost of electrophoretic analysis and to increase the amount and speed of samples that can be analyzed, 96-sample applicator strips that can accommodate 96 or more samples have been developed (Fig. c).
These strips are made of appropriate flexible and long lasting material that is resistant to many chemicals. The 96-well application strips are particularly suited for large scale isoelectric focusing. To be able to use this 96-applicator strip, use is made of specific gel loader tips (Fig a), that are best cut slant (Fig b). Naturally, we are able to instruct you in the use of these strips in the most efficient way. The quality of your gel must be suitable to have adequate resolution of your protein or DNA markers. We are happy to provide you with our pre-cast gels of sufficient quality to be able to analyze high number samples in a singe run. Using these 96-well strips, a single technician can run a hybrid purity test on up to several thousands individual tomato seeds in a single day!
